Representative McEachin was just reelected to a fourth term.
Representative Donald McEachin of Virginia passed away late Monday after battling cancer for a year. Congressman McEachin, who had just been reelected, was a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the House Committee on Natural Resources, and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.
Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia said, “I was last with him on election night three weeks ago, celebrating his win. He was a gentle giant, a compassionate champion for underdogs, a climate warrior, a Christian example, an understanding dad, a proud husband, a loyal brother.”
President Joe Biden stated, “Jill and I are saddened by the death of Congressman Don McEachin of Virginia, following a battle with cancer. We send our deepest condolences to Don’s wife, Colette, and their three children.“
Representative McEachin, who was 61 and an Army veteran, is survived by his wife, Colette, and three children.
